Best Bets for Today - Top Plays Across NFL, NHL and NBA for Monday December 8 2025
Monday's card gives us a nice three-sport mix: a battle of basement dwellers in Indianapolis, a prime-time AFC showdown in Los Angeles, and an Atlantic Division tilt in Toronto where both teams need a response. Kings vs Pacers
It’s ugly on paper, but these spots often offer the best value. Sacramento comes in at 6–17 and just snapped a skid with a big upset win over Miami, but they’re still 3–10 on the road and will likely be without Domantas Sabonis, who’s listed out until mid-December. That’s a huge blow against an Indiana team that actually leans on its size and rebounding to stay competitive. The Pacers are only 5–18, but four of those wins have come in their last six, and Pascal Siakam has been in strong form, averaging 24.5 points on efficient shooting. Indiana’s defense isn’t good, but Sacramento gives up over 122 points per game and tends to fall apart late away from home. With the Pacers at home, healthier in the frontcourt, and not having to deal with Sabonis inside, I’m backing Indiana -3.5 to ride their recent momentum. Check out the full Kings vs Pacers pick.
Eagles vs Chargers
This one has the feel of a playoff-caliber game, even if both teams have been uneven at times. The Eagles are 8–4 but come in on a two-game skid, which is exactly why I like this as a bounce-back spot. Jalen Hurts has been excellent protecting the football with 19 touchdowns to just two interceptions, and Philly still has the better overall roster in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Chargers match their 8–4 record and get Justin Herbert back, but he’s still listed as questionable with a hand issue and will be facing a pass rush that can get home even without Jalen Carter. SoFi doesn’t offer much of a home-field edge, and the Eagles have already shown they can win tight, low-scoring games on the road this season. With the more balanced offense, stronger run game behind Saquon Barkley, and a defense built to pressure Herbert, I’m taking Philadelphia -1.5 to steady the ship in prime time. Lightning vs Maple Leafs
The market has this close to a pick’em, and that’s fair — but I lean to the home side. Tampa Bay is 16–10–2 and an impressive 8–3–2 on the road, but they roll into Toronto on a three-game losing streak where the offense has gone quiet, scoring just five goals total over that span. Even with Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy both day-to-day, the Lightning remain dangerous, but they’re not finishing chances like they were a week ago. Toronto, meanwhile, is 13–11–4 and 8–4–4 at home, with recent convincing wins at Carolina, Florida, and Pittsburgh before losing a tight shootout to Montreal. William Nylander and John Tavares are both scoring well, and the Leafs’ depth has started to show again. Goaltending is less certain for Toronto with Joseph Woll on IR, but they’re still getting good numbers from the rotation and generating more offense than Tampa at the moment.
