AL East Division rivals will tangle on Saturday afternoon, when the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series from the Rogers Centre. Last night, Baltimore managed just three hits and committed a pair of errors during a 6-1 road loss.

Thirty-five year old righty Tomoyuki Sugano (10-8 4.51 ERA) is hitting the wall in his first full major league season. The Orioles have dropped Sugano’s previous three starts (12.1 IP) and he has surrendered 15 runs over that stretch.

The Toronto Blue Jays have won seven of their previous 11 games and hold a 3.5 game lead over New York for first place. During Friday’s home victory, Toronto took the lead in the sixth inning on a Myles Straw double that scored Ian Kiner-Falefa. All-Star 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reached base five times and drove in a run for the Blue Jays (85-62), who improved to 48-25 at home.

The Blue Jays will counter with three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (5-3 4.36 ERA) on Saturday. Through 74 plus innings, Scherzer has fanned 70 batters and sports a solid 1.16 WHIP.
