Twenty-four year old righty Rhett Lowder (2-1 3.52 ERA) will make his 11th career major league start for the Reds. Through 53 plus career innings, Lowder has limited opponents to one long ball and has retired 37 batters by strikes.

Rays Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays have won seven of their previous ten games and trail New York by a half-game for the top spot in the AL East Division. On Sunday, Tampa Bay 3B Junior Caminero crushed his fifth home run of the early season during a 6-3 road loss against Pittsburgh. SP Shane McClanahan (1-2) gave up four runs in four plus innings and took the loss for the Rays.

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash has not announced a starting pitcher for the series opener. The Rays have used openers and bullpen games with much success in recent years. Tampa Bay ranks 22nd in team ERA and has logged just five quality starts.
