SP Jack Flaherty (8-14) allowed one run in five innings and took the loss for the Tigers (85-67), who fell to 46-31 at home.
The Tigers will counter with AL Cy Young Award frontrunner Tarik Skubal (13-5 2.26 ERA) in the series finale. Through 183 plus innings, Skubal has fanned 224 batters and leads the majors with a 0.86 WHIP.
