During Monday’s home victory, OF Daylen Lile fell a triple short of the cycle and drove in five runs to power the Washington offense. 2B Jorbit Vivas went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for the Nationals (62-71), who improved to 28-36 at home. SP Cade Cavalli (12-5) struck out seven batters across six solid frames to earn the win.
Washington manager Blake Butera will turn to twenty-seven year old southpaw Andrew Alvarez (2-5 3.60 ERA) on Tuesday. Through 80 innings of work, Alvarez has limited the opposition to four home runs and fanned 74 batters while posting a 1.34 WHIP.
