Detroit leads the American League Central by 7.5 games over the Cleveland Guardians with just 14 games remaining on the regular season schedule. Detroit has relied on steady pitching all season (3.93 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). Casey Mize has been reliable (14–5, 3.83 ERA) with good control (32 walks in 131 innings). Mize has pitched much better than his counterpart Mazur, this season.

At the plate, Riley Greene has been the key to winning this season, with 34 home runs and 108 RBI, with Gleyber Torres setting the table with a .374 on-base percentage, which leads the club. The Tigers have scored 723 runs this year, and with solid pitching on the mound, opponents have had a hard time keeping pace with Detroit.

Miami Marlins Preview

Miami trails first-place Philadelphia in the National League East by 19 games and is well off the pace for postseason contention. Miami’s lineup makes contact but lacks power (142 home runs, 649 runs). Xavier Edwards is the top hitter (.280 avg, .339 on-base percentage), and Kyle Stowers led in homers (25), but is out injured. Without him, the Marlins don’t have much of a home run threat.
