Thirty year old right-hander Jack Flaherty (1-8 4.97 ERA) has been pitching better over the last month for the Tigers. In his last start, Flaherty fired five shutout frames and fanned nine batters during a 7-5 home loss versus Houston.

Rangers Preview

The Texas Rangers have won seven of their last ten games and are tied with Seattle for AL West Division supremacy. During Thursday’s home victory, OF Alejandro Osuna and SS Nicky Lopez each went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored to spark the Texas offense. Josh Smith, Evan Carter, and Elias Diaz each homered as part of the 17-hit Texas attack. SP Nathan Eovaldi (9-7) struck out nine batters in five innings to earn the win for the Rangers (45-43), who improved to 20-18 at home.

Texas manager Skip Schumaker will turn to twenty-six year old righty Kumar Rocker (2-6 3.83 ERA) on Saturday. The Rangers have won Rocker’s previous two starts and he has allowed two runs over his last 11 innings.
