Last night, C Joe Mack went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored to lead Miami to a 5-2 road victory against New York.

Twenty-eight year old righty Tyler Phillips (3.52 ERA) will take the mound for the Marlins in this matchup. In his last start, Phillips (5 IP) allowed two runs and retired five batters by strikes during an 8-7 home victory versus Philadelphia.

Mets Preview

The New York Mets have been the most disappointing team in the majors and will be major sellers at the MLB trade deadline. During Friday’s home loss, SS Francisco Lindor went 2-for-3 with his ninth home run of the season and rookie OF Carson Benge collected three of New York’s seven hits. SP Kodai Senga (0-8) gave up three runs in four innings and was saddled with the loss for the Mets (47-64), who fell to 25-32 at home.

Rookie left-hander Zach Thornton (2-1 2.43 ERA) will make his sixth career major league start for the Mets. Through 29 plus innings, Thornton has limited opponents to two long balls and fanned 22 batters while positing a minuscule 0.91 WHIP.
