Last night, All-Star 1B Pete Alonso clobbered two of New York’s four home runs during a 12-5 road triumph.

Thirty-two year old righty Clay Holmes (11-6 3.60 ERA) will take the mound for the Mets in this matchup. In his last start, Holmes (5 IP) gave up five hits and four runs (2 ER) during a 7-4 home loss versus Miami.

Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers have dropped seven of their previous ten games and are still 8.5 games clear of Kansas City for the top spot in the AL Central Division. During Tuesday’s home loss, Detroit OF Wenceel Perez went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs. SP Sawyer Gipson-Long (0-2) surrendered six runs in four innings and took the loss for the Tigers (80-60), who fell to 44-27 at home.

Detroit skipper A.J. Hinch will turn to former number one overall draft pick Casey Mize (12-5 3.95 ERA) on Wednesday. Last time out, Mize (3.1 IP) was tagged for seven hits and five runs during a 7-0 road loss against the Athletics.
