The Tuesday MLB schedule will get started with an interleague clash between the New York Mets and the Tampa Bay Rays from Tropicana Field. Last night, DH Mark Vientos returned from injury to hit a home run and C Francisco Alvarez added an RBI single to lead New York to a 3-2 road victory against Tampa Bay.

Thirty-four year old southpaw Sean Manaea (4.55 ERA) will make his 15th start of the year for the Mets. In his last start, Manaea (5.2 IP) was tagged for eight hits and six runs during an 8-2 home loss versus Milwaukee. For the season Manaea has surrendered 20 long balls in 120 plus innings.

Rays Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays have won 46 of their first 70 home games and hold a four-game lead over New York for AL East Division supremacy. During Monday’s home loss, Tampa Bay was held scoreless for the first seven innings. The Rays scored both runs in the eighth inning on run scoring singles from Liam Hicks and Chandler Simpson. SP Ian Seymour (9-6) retired ten batters by strikes in six plus innings and was the hard-luck loser.

Thirty year old right-hander Freddy Peralta (6-11 5.11 ERA) will take the ball against his former team. The Mets acquired Peralta from Milwaukee in the offseason, but shipped him to Tampa Bay after 22 disappointing starts. Last time out, Peralta fired six shutout frames and fanned four batters during a 3-0 road victory against Detroit.
