The Nuggets (50-32) lost in the second round of the playoffs and must improve a defense that ranked in the bottom third of the league last year. Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic makes Denver a perennial title contender and the team has upgraded the talent around him.

The biggest offseason addition for the Nuggets was landing sharp-shooting wing Cam Johnson in a deal that sent Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn. Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas will add plenty of depth to the Denver rotation.

Warriors Preview

The Golden State Warriors have won four NBA titles since 2015 and have plenty of optimism that their championship window has not closed. The Warriors’ trajectory turned at last year’s trade deadline when they landed Jimmy Butler in a trade with Miami. On opening night, Golden State connected on 17-for-40 from long distance and led by as many as 17 points during a 119-109 road triumph against Los Angeles.

Golden State F Jimmy Butler converted all 16 free-throw attempts and finished with a team-high 31 points. Two-time MVP Steph Curry chipped in 23 points (8-8 FT) and four assists. Buddy Hield added 17 points (5-10 3PT) in 22 minutes off the bench.
