In Game Five, Detroit raced out to a 12-point lead after one quarter and converted 28-of-35 free-throw attempts to earn a 116-109 home victory.

All-Star G Cade Cunningham nailed all 14 attempts from the charity stripe and finished with 45 points. Detroit F Tobias Harris contributed in 23 points (9-18 FG) and eight rebounds. All-Star C Jalen Duren and F Duncan Robinson added 12 points each for the Pistons, who dominated the Magic on the glass by a 49-33 margin.

The Orlando Magic finished with a 25-15 record at home during the regular season and won their previous two home games in this best-of-seven series. The eighth-seeded Magic (3-2) were the 12 rated defensive team and gave up 115.1 points per game. During Wednesday’s home loss, Orlando missed 14 of 30 free-throw attempts and shot 48 percent from the field.

Former number one overall draft pick Paolo Banchero matched a game-high with 45 points on 17-for-31 shooting. Banchero also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out seven assists. Anthony Black scored 19 points (7-12 FG) in 39 minutes off the Orlando bench. Desmond Bane added 18 points and five boards for the Magic, who connected on 17-for-38 from the three-point line.
