Team Breakdown - Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama began the year with an impressive showing, shooting 53% from the field and controlling the boards. Guard Labaron Philon Jr. led with 22 points and eight assists, while Houston Mallette added 15 points and eight rebounds. Amari Allen scored 12 points and contributed seven rebounds and five assists, giving the Crimson Tide balance across the floor.

The defense held North Dakota to 38% shooting and forced 15 turnovers. Forward Aiden Sherrell blocked four shots and helped protect the paint, while Davion Hannah added nine points and three steals off the bench. Alabama’s quick ball movement and rebounding strength were key to its season-opening win.

Team Breakdown -  St. John’s Red Storm

St. John’s delivered a dominant start, scoring 108 points while shooting 56% from the field. Dillon Mitchell led with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals, and Zuby Ejiofor added 17 points. Ian Jackson provided 15 points off the bench, and Dylan Darling ran the offense with six assists.

The Red Storm shared the ball effectively with 25 assists and forced 14 turnovers on defense. The mix of speed and size allowed the Red Storm to push the tempo and create open shots. Coach Rick Pitino’s group showed control on both ends and will look to continue that against a faster, more athletic Alabama team.

Alabama at St. John’s Prediction

Alabama can score in bunches, but St. John’s plays better defense and has more depth in the frontcourt. The Red Storm will pull away late behind Mitchell’s all-around play and solid team shooting. Final Score Prediction: St. John’s Red Storm win and cover ATS, 86–78.
