Morehead State Preview
Morehead State came out firing in its opener, scoring 89 points in a win over Milwaukee. Guard Jaden Carroll shot well from the floor, finishing with 20 points on 100 percent shooting for an offense that hit 60.7 percent overall. The Eagles moved the ball well, recording 21 assists, and used quick passing to create open looks. The Eagles’ smaller lineup pulled down just 27 boards, and that could be an issue against a taller ACC opponent. Morehead State’s backcourt showed creativity, but limiting turnovers will be key against Wake’s athletic perimeter group.
Wake Forest Preview
Wake Forest handled American 88-74 in its first game, getting 20 points from Malik Mason and a strong two-way effort from Tre’Von Spillers. The Demon Deacons showed balance with five players scoring in double figures and 16 team steals that turned defense into transition chances. They hit nearly 48 percent from the field and controlled the boards with a 38–27 rebounding edge. That depth and energy at home should again be a difference, especially inside, where Wake’s length and physical play can wear down the visiting Eagles.
Wake Forest vs Morehead State Prediction
The numbers point toward a fast-paced matchup, with both teams topping 85 points in their openers. Wake Forest’s defensive pressure, however, will help open a double-digit lead in the second half, which will make it hard for Morehead State to remain in contact. The Eagles will need a big night from Carroll to stay within striking distance, but Wake’s talent will pull away.
