Nicholls Colonels Preview

Nicholls scored 51 points in its opener and shot 30.2% from the field. Jalin Rice led the Colonels with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, and Jalik Dunkley added 10 points and four rebounds. Guard Trae English scored eight points and had four assists, but made only one of nine shots. Forward Grant Sanders finished with six rebounds and four points.

The Colonels totaled 30 rebounds and nine assists while turning the ball over 11 times. They went 3-for-18 from three-point range and 15-for-22 at the foul line. Nicholls created eight steals but allowed Kentucky to shoot nearly 47%. The Colonels will try to improve their half-court offense after managing only 19 field goals in the opener.

Eastern Illinois Panthers Preview

Eastern Illinois scored 63 points in its opener and shot 39.1% from the field. Preston Turner led the Panthers with 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting, and forward Terry McMorris finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Zion Fruster scored 12 points with six rebounds and three steals. Malik Olafioye added nine points, and Kooper Jacobi had six points and five rebounds.

The Panthers finished with 41 rebounds and five steals while committing 20 turnovers. They hit just two of nine three-point attempts but made 31 of 39 free throws. Eastern Illinois defended well for long stretches and held Valparaiso under 40% shooting. Returning home, the Panthers will look for more consistent scoring from the perimeter to back up frontcourt play.

Nicholls at Eastern Illinois Prediction

Eastern Illinois showed better balance in its first game and has more inside scoring options. Nicholls struggled to create open looks and will need a stronger start to keep it close. Final Score Prediction: Eastern Illinois wins and covers ATS, 68–59.
