Towson begins its 2025-26 campaign as the Coastal Athletic Association favorite and hits the road to face Loyola Maryland in Baltimore. Tip-off is at 9:00 PM ET at CFG Bank Arena, and this local matchup sets the tone for a Tigers team expected to dominate the CAA once again. Towson Preview

Towson brings back one of the league’s top tandems in junior forward Tyler Tejada and redshirt junior guard Dylan Williamson, both named to the Preseason All-CAA First Team. Tejada was the 2024-25 CAA Player of the Year after posting 16.8 points per game on 43.7 percent shooting, and his perimeter scoring makes him the focal point of the Tigers’ offense. Williamson finished last year’s postseason averaging 27.5 points and five three-pointers per game, showing he can take over when defenses key on Tejada. Head coach Pat Skerry’s group closed last season on a strong note, winning four of its final five regular-season games before falling in the conference tournament. The Tigers’ disciplined half-court execution and rebounding give them a clear edge over a rebuilding Loyola squad.

Loyola Maryland Preview

Loyola Maryland enters the season trying to reset after a 10–22 campaign in 2024-25. The Greyhounds showed some potential late last year, splitting the final four games, and will look to carry that improvement into November. Head coach Tavaras Hardy is counting on backcourt leadership from veterans Justin Moore and Kymany Houinsou, both returning from injury and expected to stabilize an offense that too often stalled last season. That experience could help Loyola stay competitive early, especially with a deeper bench available this fall. However, the Greyhounds still face a challenge in containing Towson’s interior strength and defending multiple scoring threats for 40 minutes.

Loyola Maryland vs Towson Prediction

This opener should be a showcase of Towson’s depth and maturity. The Tigers are the more cohesive side, built around proven scorers who fit well in Skerry’s structured system. Loyola’s energy and home crowd may keep it interesting for a half, but Towson’s shot creation and defensive rebounding are likely to dictate tempo. Expect the Tigers to pull away late and cover comfortably.
