The Indiana State Sycamores visit the Purdue Boilermakers on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette and televised on BTN. Indiana State is 0-1 after opening 2026 with a 23-21 home loss to Southeast Missouri State. Purdue begins its season after finishing 2-10 overall in 2025 and going winless in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers closed last season with five straight losses, including a 56-3 defeat to Indiana. Purdue opened as a 33.5-point favorite and is now -35.5, while the total is 56.5 points. Indiana State Sycamores Preview

Indiana State produced 346 yards against Southeast Missouri State, with most of the damage coming through the air. Elijah Owens completed 23 of 32 passes for 288 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Keshon Singleton caught seven passes for 66 yards and a touchdown, while BJ Wuest added 67 yards. The problem was the running game, as the Sycamores managed only 58 yards on 31 attempts.

Indiana State's defense allowed only 327 yards and held Southeast Missouri State to 1.8 yards per carry. Nic Yatsko recorded 12 tackles, while Braxton Sampson and Xavian Andrews each had 10. Peter Eyabi produced Indiana State's only sack. The Sycamores allowed 274 passing yards, however, and now face an FBS offense with several new receiving options.

Purdue Boilermakers Preview

Purdue averaged only 14.4 points last season but returns quarterback Ryan Browne, who passed for 2,153 yards and nine touchdowns. Browne also threw 10 interceptions, making ball security an important area for improvement. The receiving group has been rebuilt with Xavier Townsend, Bisi Owens and Asaad Waseem, who caught 66 passes for 699 yards and five touchdowns at Florida Atlantic. Fame Ijeboi and Jerrick Gibson give Purdue new options in the backfield.

The Boilermakers allowed 433 yards per game last season, but Barry Odom has added several transfers to the defense. Charles Correa returns after recording 96 tackles, three sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. Jojo Hayden joins the linebacker group, while Elo Modozie adds an edge-rushing option.
