Georgia State begins its season after finishing 1-11 overall in 2025 and losing its final five games, including a 27-10 loss at Old Dominion. North Carolina A&T moved the ball against Morgan State but struggled to turn drives into points. Braxton Thomas completed 20 of 32 passes for 240 yards and added 24 rushing yards with the Aggies' only touchdown. North Carolina A&T finished with 328 total yards and 19 first downs while controlling possession for 35:41. The ground game was a problem, producing only 88 yards on 35 carries. JT Smith led the backfield with 51 yards on 19 attempts.

The Aggies kept Morgan State to 276 total yards and forced one interception, but two fourth-quarter touchdowns decided the game. North Carolina A&T allowed a 68-yard touchdown pass before surrendering a 22-yard scoring run late. Tyrek Brown and Eddie Conover each made six tackles, while Kamari Blankumsee recorded the interception. The defense did not produce a sack.

Georgia State Panthers Preview

Georgia State averaged only 19.75 points per game last season, but the Panthers rebuilt the offense through the transfer portal. Cameran Brown returns at quarterback after throwing 13 touchdown passes with only one interception in 2025. The Panthers also added four running backs, while Michigan transfer Connor Jones and Arizona transfer Jordan Brown strengthen an offensive line that led the Sun Belt in fewest sacks allowed last season.

Defense is the bigger concern after Georgia State allowed 37.83 points per game. Opponents averaged five yards per carry, and seven teams rushed for at least 200 yards. The Panthers also forced only six turnovers all season.
