South Alabama Preview
After missing a bowl game for the first time in four seasons, the South Alabama Jaguars are looking to rebound in 2026. The Jaguars (4-8) have been gutted in the transfer portal and head coach Major Applewhite is on the hot seat. South Alabama features an efficient rushing attack, but QB Bishop Davenport (2,073 pass yds, 12 TDs) needs to push the ball downfield more often. Last year, the Jaguars went 0-7 when Davenport failed to complete 71 percent of his passes.
South Alabama was one of the worst pass rushing teams and hired veteran DC Todd Orlando to provide more havoc. The Jaguars ranked fourth in the conference in total defense, but gave up north of 30 points per game. LB Tirrell Johnson Jr. made 54 tackles and will look to increase his tackles for loss in the new scheme.
