Stanford visits Virginia on Saturday at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville with a kickoff at 7:30 PM ET on ACC Network. Stanford comes in off a 30–20 win over Boston College, while Virginia handled William & Mary 55–16. The matchup pairs a Cardinal offense still looking for success with a Cavaliers group that has started fast at home. Follow all the college football action with our expert college football best bets

Stanford Preview

Stanford’s passing game has been limited so far. Ben Gulbranson is 45-of-84 for 437 yards with one touchdown and three picks, and the longest gain through the air is 36 yards. That’s forced the Cardinal to lean on the run; Micah Ford has 55 carries for 291 yards and two touchdowns, but the team is at 3.9 yards per rush overall. Protection is also a concern with five sacks allowed and negative rushing (-28 yards) from the quarterback spot, which has stalled drives.

Defensively, Stanford’s front performed well. Clay Patterson already has three sacks, and Matt Rose leads with 30 tackles. That activity kept Boston College in check last week, and will be the way to stay close against Virginia. Stanford has yielded big gains in every game, especially off play-action.

Virginia Preview

Virginia’s offense has balance and can finish. Chandler Morris is completing 70% (670 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT), and the ground game is strong with J’Mari Taylor (213 yards, six TDs), plus Morris is a dual-threat (113 rush yards). The leading receiver is Trell Harris (176 yards,) and Cam Ross has 164 yards with one touchdown reception.

On defense, the Cavaliers rush the passer well, and the secondary defends passes. Safety Ethan Minter already has a pick, while the pass rush —Mitchell Melton, Fisher Camac, and company—has combined for steady pressure. Against a Stanford line that has allowed QB pressure and a passing attack that hasn’t produced a TD yet, Virginia should stop the Stanford attack early and give its offense short fields to work on.

Stanford vs Virginia Prediction

Virginia will control the line of scrimmage, make big plays on both sides of the line of scrimmage, and prevent Stanford from moving the chains often. The overall flow of the game will be dedicated from start to finish by Virginia. Final Score Prediction: Virginia Cavaliers win and cover ATS 31-13.
