The Tulane Green Wave visit the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham on ACCN. Tulane finished 11-3 overall last season, winning the American Conference before losing 41-10 to Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff. Duke went 9-5 overall and won the ACC Championship before finishing with four straight victories, including a 42-39 win over Arizona State. Tulane begins the Will Hall era with major turnover on offense. Kadin Semonza is the likely quarterback after leading the MAC with 24 touchdown passes and 242 passing yards per game at Ball State in 2024, but Zeon Chriss-Gremillion, Dagan Bruno and Trace Johnson are also options. Jamauri McClure returns after rushing for 540 yards at 6.5 yards per carry, while Florida State transfer Jaylin Lucas strengthens the backfield. Anthony Brown-Stephens returns after making 41 receptions.

The Green Wave allowed 23.9 points and 384.2 yards per game last season, with the pass defense surrendering more than 300 yards six times. Tulane lost several defensive linemen through the transfer portal, but the secondary retains experience. Jack Tchienchou led the team with 83 tackles, while E'zaiah Shine recorded 41 tackles and seven pass breakups. Tulane went 6-0 when forcing multiple turnovers last season.

Duke also has major changes after leading the ACC with 285 passing yards and 34.6 points per game. Walker Eget is a leading option to replace Darian Mensah after throwing for more than 5,500 yards and 30 touchdowns over the past two seasons at San Jose State. Running back Nate Sheppard provides stability after rushing for 1,132 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

The Blue Devils forced 24 turnovers last season and went 6-1 when creating multiple takeaways. Luke Mergott returns after recording 90 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two interceptions, but Duke must replace four starters on the defensive front. Tulane's rebuilt defensive front could struggle to contain that balance. The move from 8.5 to 9.5 points makes the spread more demanding, especially with Duke replacing much of last season's passing production. Tulane still has enough talent in the backfield and secondary to remain competitive, but the Green Wave have more uncertainty across the starting lineup.
