Kansas City is stocked with talent on offense, with Isah Pacheco, the leading rusher, returning from last season. Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, and JuJu Smith-Schuster are the top three receivers for the Chiefs. Kansas City plays a 4-3 defense with its strength at linebacker with Drue Tranquill, Nick Bolson, and Leo Chenal. The Chiefs' secondary is also expected to be strong this season.

Chargers Preview

The Los Angeles Chargers finished last season 11-6 and have a projected win total for 2025 of 9.2. The biggest strength for Los Angeles entering the regular season is the defensive secondary with three safeties - Alohi Gilman, Derwin James Jr, and Elijah Molden - who are capable of starting for any other team.

Justin Herbert returns as the starting quarterback and the signal caller has 21,093 yards passing, which is the most through the first five seasons for a player in NFL history. The weak link for Los Angeles entering the regular season is its offensive line. Los Angeles will be without Pro Bowl left tackle Rashawn Slater. The Chargers were helped by the signing of Mekhi Becton at right guard.

Chiefs vs Chargers Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs are once again one of the favorites to contend for the AFC title this season and will have Patrick Mahomes once again under center to create problems for each defense the Chiefs face. Los Angeles has a strong QB in Justin Herbert, but the offensive line for the Chargers is a bit suspect, and that could create problems for both the running game and pass protection against Kansas City on opening night. Final Score Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs win and cover ATS 27-21.
